I am responsible for leisure planning projects including master plans, feasibility assessments, and operational reviews. My career includes 15 years with various municipal recreation departments in roles that included community development, Director, and recreation planner, prior to entering the field of consulting. I received my BA and MA in recreation from the University of Waterloo. I am a Past President of the Society of Directors of Municipal Recreation of Ontario, was a member of the team that created Parks and Recreation Ontario, a member of the founding Board of the (Leisure) Lifestyle Information Network, and am a current Member of the Board of Recreation Nova Scotia. I bring to my consulting activities a strong understanding of municipal operations, financial analysis, and political processes. I am a skilled facilitator with a deep commitment to assisting my clients to create healthy, active, cohesive and viable communities. I am strongly committed to the value and importance of recreation in peoples lives, at all ages and stages of life. For my own recreation I am an avid gardener, and when I am not traveling around Atlantic Canada, which is the focus of my consulting work now, I also try to find time to walk and bike and occasionally read a good book. |
